Laura,
I'm not aware of specific charts etc., although they may well be out there. You might try Googling "wind bullet travel". Several links show up. The problem is that wind will affect bullets differently, depending on their weight, shape, muzzle velocity and distance to travel.

Hi,

I would like to know just how much wind affects shot placement. Are there any stats on this.

Thanks.

A-men brother. There is nothing like a canvas tent with a woodstove in it. I have spent many years in pursit of deer, elk, and antelope with such a camp, sometimes horseback.

This weekend nov. 7 we will contine a family tradition by having a party outside cooking with dutch ovens around a fire. Buffalo for Thanksgiving is a family favorite with the men cooking outside and the women inside. Even people who do not spend much time outdoors love the concept. A tepee was a fovorite of many guests, but our canvas finally rotted out. This week we will have two wall tents with stoves and an open fire with a sheet metal stove top.

Peter,
Yes, I have the same feeling about a $2 rifle cartridge, although the temptation is there to at least bring the grouse home for the table.

Nothing wrong with that post Don. I was sitting yesterday waiting for a deer and thought what a great day,,,,no phones,,,no bells,,,,just a slight wind and a few Nuthatches to pass the morning.
Was brought back to reality when a grouse flew down about 10 yards from me. To bad I was hunting for deer,,,,I hate to use a $12 arrow on a forest chicken.
